Another activist, Jalal Garayev, from Khatai District branch of the party was detained in Baku city’s Ahmadly settlement and taken to police station No 36.

The authorities are putting all kinds of obstacles in the way just to stop the protest rally preparations.

We call upon the authorities to stop the crack down on the opposition activists and urge the international community to help with the release of those already detained.

Please, note that pro-democracy Public Chamber of Azerbaijan opposition will hold a rally for support of democratic reforms in Baku on April 8, Sunday, which has been authorized by Baku Mayor Office.

“Public Chamber” asked to authorize the  rally  on the square in front of “Narimanov” or “Tabriz” cinemas, but Baku Mayor Office sent the opposition to the outside of the city, to the derilict area – 20th Site, which totally lacks the social and technical infrastructure.
Despite the place is  unacceptable for mass rallies, it is possible to assemble  one time, and to test the mood of society, majority thinks.

The rally will take place under the slogan “To hold new parliamentary elections,” “Freedom to Karabakh”, “Freedom for Political Prisoners,” “Return the deposits of one to one!”, “Do not violate the right of ownership!” and others.
