Statement of the National Front Party on the Khojaly genocide

The National Front Party states that the Khojaly genocide, one of the worst tragedies of the 20th century, has not yet received a full legal assessment. On the night of February 25-26, 1992, with the direct participation of Russian military units, the Armenian armed forces occupied the Azerbaijani city of Khojaly and committed a terrible genocide against Azerbaijanis.
On the same day, the Armenian armed forces occupied the city of Khojaly with the help of armored vehicles and servicemen of the 366th motorized rifle regiment, stationed in Khankendi since Soviet times. Of the 2,500 residents of Khojaly, 613 people were killed by enemy bullets. As a result of this genocide, 613 residents of Khojaly died, including 63 children, 106 women, 70 elderly people, 8 families were completely destroyed, 25 children lost both parents, 130 children lost one of their parents. Of the 487 people wounded by enemy bullets, 76 are children. Of 1275 Khojaly captives, 150 Khojaly residents went missing.

During the 44-day Patriotic War that began on September 27, 2020, the Azerbaijani army liberated Karabakh from the Armenian occupation and put an end to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. We did not know the state of our territories, which had been under Armenian occupation for 30 years, and we thought that the most terrible crime of the Armenian leadership against Azerbaijanis to this day was the Khojaly massacre. Although the Khojaly massacre remains one of the most horrible crimes of the 20th century, in addition, the Armenian military-political leadership has committed other horrific crimes in the occupied territories.

After the liberation of the occupied territories, the Azerbaijanis faced other serious crimes by the Armenian leadership. They turned our occupied areas, cities and villages into ruins and left no stone unturned. Foreign media have already called the liberated Azerbaijani cities “ghost town”, “Caucasian Hiroshima” and “Stalingrad”.

These terrible crimes are clear evidence that the Armenian leadership misinformed the world community about the Khojaly massacre. The Armenian military-political junta deliberately committed the Khojaly genocide, which is a crime act against humanity.

Khojaly genocide

Considering these facts, the National Front Party in Azerbaijan, represented in the Azerbaijani parliament, calls on the world community, governments and international organizations to recognize the Khojaly genocide and give a legal assessment of the crimes committed by the Armenian military-political regime.
